Equipment Tips for Taper CandlesWax heats up quickly and can explode if it gets too hot, which is why you must always use an indirect method of melting it. The perfect system is a double boiler, and this system will probably be one of your most important and well used pieces of candle making equipment. |
If you can invest in a store bought double boiler then I would strongly advise that you do this.
If you don’t have the means at the moment don’t worry, because you can easily adapt using your existing household pans by placing a small pot inside a larger pot making sure that the small pot isn’t resting on the bottom of the large pot.
While this equipment tip is useful for making taper candles, it is a very important part of your candle making equipment supplies as it will be used for most of your candles.
To raise your small pot simply place a suitable trivet on the base of the large pot in order to raise the small pot by at least half an inch before pouring water into the larger pot.
